Memorial Day and Victory Day
Time: 14th to 15th of Reaping
On the 14th of Reaping, the world mourns. It is the memorial day for those who lost their lives fighting in the great dwarves wars from Year 595 to Year 615. Each individual will have their own way of mourning their losses, or the losses of those they know, or the entire atrocity of the dwarven war in itself. While it is a solemn day, people are told to remember that it was due to these people that those that live could live. Sombre military parades are often a sight in some places, and those places with memorials to the war throng with people.
This is followed up on ther 15th of Reaping by Victory Day, a much less sombre celebration of the great victory that had been achieved over the dwarves. While some consider it in bad taste to celebrate such a thing, others would argue that those who fought in and survived the wars and live deserve as much respect as those who died. No military parades on this day, but if there was ever a day to hear a bard’s tales of the great deeds done in battles through the ages, then this is the day. For it is not just a celebration of the one victory, but of all victories achieved in life.
